In the glow of the focus on Nordic Council Session 2021, we want to celebrate the musicians who was nominated for the Nordic Council music prize. On Monday Mattias and Josephine got to see a great amount of the nominees who we want share with you on our Spotify playlist Nordic Council 2021!
I, Josephine, want to highlight Swedish Lena Willemark, who began the evening by performing a “kolock”, but also Finnish Verneri Pohjola who is a very talented trumpeter. And then of course Eivør Pálsdóttir from Faroe Islands, who won the Nordic Council Music Prize 2021.
And I, Mattias, would like to acknowledge the playfulness of Stian Carstensen and Anu Komsi’s performances, while I stand in awe of the long career and touching presence of Þorgerður Ingólfsdóttir.
Niviaq Korneliussen’s acceptance speech for the literature prize was by far the most moving, but I will also remember interviewing a very happy Eivør Pálsdóttir.
Last week, Nordljud was a collaborator for Föreningen Norden‘s event Hack för Norden, where many topics at stake were discussed. Among them, you had a focus on an integrated Nordic region – where Nordljud presented its work and upcoming projects, that you can listen to underneath – but also regarding a sustainable Nordic Region and living border regions. You can find more about the event here.
NXRTHGVNG & Kornelija’s new music video for their new song Digital Love dropped this friday as well as songs from many other Nordic artists and bands like Hudkreft, Sexmane, Rome Is Not A Town and Karl Meyer. Check them out now on our Nordic collaboration playlist Nordljud HT 2021 on Spotify. Our editor’s favorite song from this week was Horseman ting by Horse Attack Sqwad, Finnish grime at its peak, and they rap about their everlasting passion; Horses.
Nordljud is thrilled and honored to be a partner of Föreningen Norden and “Hack för Norden“, a digital co-creating event for their members.
Between the 25th and the 29th of October, three main topics will be discussed digitally:
During “Hack för Norden” you will have an overall presentation of Nordljud and its upcoming projects, but also audio samples of the Keep Kalmar radio show and some of the latest Nordic songs.
Nordljud HT 2021 is becoming the ultimate nordic music experience with these additions. Finnish Eevil Stöö & JV released an absolute banger of an album, Ooze Aalto with hiphop/rap music and many collaborations.
Danish Go Go Berlin’s new album Expectations also really struck us with their awesome rock music and lyrics everyone can understand (wohoo english!!).
Levande Död’s new song Arbete & Fritid or in english, work & leisure inspired us to make an episode of Keep Kalmar where we talk about hobbies and ways to spend free time.
Some of the newest and finest Nordic music features on this week rotation! Go check out the work from Silveräpplen & Kristina Issa, Fagernes Yacht Klubb, Rekami & Aaro360, but also many more.
