Nordljud Team: Emma Chailloux

Emma Chailloux

Latest addition to the Nordljud Team – Emma Chailloux.

Half Swedish, half French, she grew up between Tokyo and Seoul, and just graduated from University College London with a Bachelor of Arts in European Social and Political Studies where she specialised in Comparative Politics, Spanish, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian.

Member of K103 Göteborgs Studentradio, Emma is obsessed with the idea of debunking the Nordic Model to figure out what’s left of it today, but also the rise of populist radical right parties across Europe. Currently based in Paris, she will join Keep Kalmar in the upcoming months to bring her insight about Nordic Politics.

“Ultimately, I want Nordljud to be a platform fostering debates amongst students, highlighting the similarities and the differences between the Nordic states.”

Nordic Council Session 2021

Music prize nominees

In the glow of the focus on Nordic Council Session 2021, we want to celebrate the musicians who was nominated for the Nordic Council music prize. On Monday Mattias and Josephine got to see a great amount of the nominees who we want share with you on our Spotify playlist Nordic Council 2021!
I, Josephine, want to highlight Swedish Lena Willemark, who began the evening by performing a “kolock”, but also Finnish Verneri Pohjola who is a very talented trumpeter. And then of course Eivør Pálsdóttir from Faroe Islands, who won the Nordic Council Music Prize 2021.
And I, Mattias, would like to acknowledge the playfulness of Stian Carstensen and Anu Komsi’s performances, while I stand in awe of the long career and touching presence of Þorgerður Ingólfsdóttir.

Niviaq Korneliussen’s acceptance speech for the literature prize was by far the most moving, but I will also remember interviewing a very happy Eivør Pálsdóttir.

Nordljud HT 2021 is becoming the ultimate nordic music experience with these additions. Finnish Eevil Stöö & JV released an absolute banger of an album, Ooze Aalto with hiphop/rap music and many collaborations.

Danish Go Go Berlin’s new album Expectations also really struck us with their awesome rock music and lyrics everyone can understand (wohoo english!!).

Levande Död’s new song Arbete & Fritid or in english, work & leisure inspired us to make an episode of Keep Kalmar where we talk about hobbies and ways to spend free time.
